Alice Brooks

About the artist

Alice studied a year of Liberal Arts in Connecticut, USA. Following this she chose to pursue a career in psychology, gaining a Masters in Older Adult Mental Health, and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. Throughout this time, she continued her artwork alongside clinical practice, through a range of fine art courses exploring a variety of mediums.

Alice now focuses solely on her artwork; she enjoys painting with vibrant colours and has an eye for detail, however also counters this precision using the freedom and expression of charcoal in her life drawings.

Alice has taken courses at the Art Academy, Richmond Art School, and Putney School of Art and Design. In 2021, she successfully completed an Executive Education summer school in Curating Contemporary Art and Design at the Royal College of Art; collaborating internationally with artists to develop and present a curatorial project proposal.

Alice has exhibited at a range of events across London, regularly sells her work locally, and particularly enjoys doing so as part of the Barnes Artists group.

With her background in mental health, Alice is passionate about the therapeutic benefits of nature, art and creativity. She was awarded 'Richmond Artist of the Year' 2022 for her painting in tribute to a nature-based wellbeing programme at the London Wetland Centre.

Alice is always delighted to receive commissions; she works with individual clients and schools to create bespoke sketches and paintings of memorable places.
